Dentures - Complete, Partial, & Custom
Winston-Salem & Greensboro, NC

Dentures have been around for generations. That does not mean that the dentures of today are the same thing as the dentures that your great grandparents had. Today's dentures are made to last a lifetime. They are also more comfortable that they were in the past. In fact, with today's dentures, you will forget that you are wearing them. Here at Eric J. Sadler, DDS & Associates, we have helped countless others to have a great smile once again because of dentures. We would like to help you as well.

Complete and Partial Dentures - What You Need to Know

When people talk about dentures, you might hear the words complete and partial. Here is what you will want to know.

With partial dentures, we do not need to replace all of your teeth. Instead, it will be several teeth in a row that will be replaced. You can have partial dentures on the top of your mouth, or you might have the partial dentures on the bottom of your mouth.

With complete dentures, all of your teeth will be replaced. In a way, we will be giving you an entirely new set of teeth.

In most cases, it will take two appointments to get your dentures. During the first appointment, we will take a mold of your mouth. We will also remove any teeth that need to be removed. In most cases, we will give you temporary dentures so that you will be able to eat while you wait for the new set to be made.

When your new dentures are finished, you will have another appointment with us. We will make sure that your new dentures fit, and we will tell you what you need to know about caring for your dentures.

One thing that you need to keep in mind that is very important: your dentures need to stay wet. If you take them out, they will need to be soaked. You can soak the dentures in a solution that will clean them at the same time. That will help your mouth to stay fresh.

Just because you lost all of your teeth does not mean that you can skip brushing. You will still need to brush your gums and your tongue. This is an important way to keep down the number of bacteria in your mouth. Consider adding mouthwash to your routine as well. This will also cut down on bacteria, and it will help to keep your breath fresh.

When you first start to eat with your dentures, introduce foods slowly. While your dentures will be strong, it will take a little while for you to get used to eating with them. Soon you will forget that you are wearing them.
