What to Expect From the Invisalign Process

Invisalign is a form of orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear aligners to adjust the position of your teeth over time, gradually and comfortably shifting them into place until you’ve achieved your ideal smile. Each aligner is virtually invisible, so no one will be able to tell you’re going through treatment. The aligners are removable as well for easy at-home care. Simply continue to wear your aligners for up to 22 hours a day, switching them to the next set in the series every two weeks.

As you go through the series, your aligners will gradually move your teeth into their ideal positions, and by the end of treatment, you’ll have the healthy and beautiful smile you’ve always wanted.

Invisalign Explained

The Invisalign process begins when you schedule your consultation with our dentist. This visit gives us an opportunity to discuss your goals for your treatment, examine your teeth, and take X-rays and impressions of your smile. After evaluating your needs, we will be able to determine whether Invisalign is the right option for you. If it is, we can create a treatment plan that outlines the movements of your teeth during treatment and how frequently you will need to visit us for checkups.

Once we have a plan for your treatment, we will send your impressions to the lab where your aligners are made. You will receive your first set from wearing when you arrive at our office for your next appointment. We will be able to tell you what to expect at your appointment before you arrive, and if you have any concerns regarding your treatment, you can address them with us at that time. Once your treatment is complete, we will schedule you for a follow-up visit to monitor your results and ensure your teeth and gums remain healthy.

Invisalign Eligibility

Your dentist will let you know if Invisalign is right for you when you call for a consultation appointment. Once you’ve been evaluated and your treatment has been planned, your dentist will schedule your first appointment to begin creating your custom aligners.

When you first come in, your dentist will take some scans of your teeth using our iTero digital scanner. This is a quick and completely painless process that will capture all of the images and information needed for the creation of your custom aligners. Then, you’ll meet with your dentist to discuss your needs and go over your options for treatment. After you’re satisfied with the plan and you’re ready, we’ll get started!
